As this report goes to press the days of Hastings as a military base are numbered. Already the "Glory that was Hastings" is in retrospect. Now all movement and hopes are outward. There is little sentiment for the walled in forty acres which comprise our town. Perhaps in times to come we will want to clearly remember what we now so fervently desire to leave. Hence this book - place it among your odds and ends of memorabilia - it's the story of part of your life. Perhaps when Hastings has become a distant, dimly remembered place, the pages of this book will hear you say, "You know - it wasn't bad." |
