Former Omahan Cited by Brig. Gen. Pick
At a remote jungle base along the Ledo Road in Burma, Lt. Col. Charles Scott Davis (left),
formerly of Omaha, was presented the Legion of Merit award. The citation, made by
Brig. Gen. Lewis A. Pick (right), was for the outstanding services that Lt. Col. Davis
performed as operations officer for the Missouri river division at Omaha. Gen. Pick
was division engineer here before being assigned to overseas duty.
Col. Davis was lauded for "his foresight, unsurpassed organizing ability and ceaseless
efforts by which the success of the construction equipment repair program was made possible."
He formerly lived at 521 North Fifty-second street, was a civil engineer before entering
the army. He has been executive officer to Gen. Pick on the Ledo Road project since his arrival
in that theater.
