   Andrew Barna enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on April 8, 1937.  He trained at Langley Field, Virgina, and when war broke out was sent to Italy, where he served with the 8th Air Force.  He was wounded in action and returned to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. for treatment.  Following his recovery he was sent to the China-Burma-India Theater where he served for eight months.  He returned to the U.S. to attend the Command and General Staff School, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  Upon graduation he returned to the CBI Theater in China  Andrew attained the rank of major before being killed in a jeep rollover accident in Kunming, China on August 2, 1945.
