 Irving Lash

IRVING LASH
Mount Vernon, NY

   M/Sgt. Irving Lash was a member of the 769th Bomb Squadron (V.H.), 42nd Group, 58th Wing, 20th U.S. Air Force, servingfrom February 19, 1941 until October 23, 1945.

Already in the Army, he actually got to Pearl Harbor on December 8th with supplies and doctors from San Francisco.

He served as Crew Chief/Flight Engineer aboard a B-29 heavy bomber for many missions over Japan.

During an important mission, "Kamikaze Winds" delayed their arrival over the target, the Yawata Steel works.  Back home, FDR announced the bombing on the radio BEFORE THEY GOT THERE due to the delay caused by the high winds!
