Here are the answwers to the Sports Quiz questions in 1944.

1. A.- Fifty-eight. In 1932, Jimmie Foxx of Philadelphia, slapp[ed out fifty-eight homers, and in 1938, Hank Greenburg of the Detroit Tigers rapped out fifty-eight round-trippers.

2. A.- Four. In 1934, in a game against Cincinnati, Joe Carter of Philadelphia snagged four touchdown passes. Don Hutson... Green Bay's great end... has caught three touchdown passes in six different games, but he's never been able to snag the fourth pass to equal Carter's record.

3. A.- Fishing. The fisherman's fly is part of his tackle. The tackle, of course, includes all of his gear. The fly is the lure he uses.

4. A.- Well, there's Bucky Walters, one of the crack pitchers of the Cincionnati Reds... there's Bucky Harris, former manager of the Philadelphia Phillies and other teams... Bucky Weaver, third baseman for the famous Black Sox... and of course, there's Bucky Newsom, the talkative pitcher for the Detroit Tigers.

6. A.- Abe Simon. The last heavyweight championship fight was held in New York in March, 1942, when Joe Louis knocked out Abe Simon in six rounds.

7. A.- Pete Gray has only one arm! But despite the loss of his left arm, Pete Gray has become one of the outstanding players in the Southern Association. His season's batting average is generally mighty close to the three-hundred mark, and he hets more than his share of extra-base wallops. When it comes to fielding, he's a perfect ball hawk. He has perfected an amazing technique of catching the ball... whipping off his glove... and pegging in the ball all in one split-second movement.

9. A.- It's a wild pitch. Any pitched ball that strikes the ground before passing the plate and then slips by the catcher, is a wild pitch.

10. A.- The Southeastern Conference.

11. A.- The Manassa Mauler was Jack Dempsey... the Wild Bull of the Pampas was Luis Firpo... and the Cinderella Man was James Braddock.
