   Carl served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army from November 1940 through May 1945.  He was a member of 3477th Ordinance, MAM Company in the CBI Theater and saw duty in all three countries (China, Burma and India).  He earned the Bronze Star during this time.  Years after the war he was a Charter Member and the First Commander of Northcoast Basha, CBI Veterans Association, State of Ohio.  He also served in civilian life as a fireman for the City of Cleveland for 35 years.
