CHINA - BURMA - INDIA
WALL OF HONOR

 Harold Nelson Wood

HAROLD NELSON WOOD

My Grandfather, Colonel Harold Nelson Wood was a great man. He served his country for 27 years as an officer in China Burma India, in Korea in the late 50s, and during the Vietnam war (not in country.) After retirement, he was a department of the Army civilian until 1980, during which time he co-fathered the LACV-30 Air cushion vehicle. My grandmother and grandfather were married for 60 1/2 years and was a very dedicated family man. He was an elder at the first Presbyterian church, a member of the Harrisonburg Kiwanis club, MOSAA, VFW, national association of uniformed services, the China Burma India Veterans Association, and the 7th Infantry division. My grandfather passed away in 2005 and his family misses him dearly. Words cannot express the pride I have in him. When I was young he would tell stories of being overseas or relationships with different people, and they were just stories. Now they are forever in my heart and wish I could have one last conversation with him. I would like to say thank you to all veterans and if anyone here remembers him or can tell me a little more about the theater I would greatly appreciate it.

Ryan Hutcheson
Grandson of Colonel Harold Nelson Wood
