Photos from the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II shared by Glenda Garrelts Mattes
Glenn Garrelts sailed for India aboard the U.S.S. General A.E. Anderson from Newport News,
Virginia on June 29, 1944, arriving in Bombay on August 7.
From Bombay he was sent to Calcutta and then Karachi where he served as Chief Clerk in the
Registrars and Sick & Wounded Office of the 181st General Hospital, Karachi, from September 20, 1944 to
April 13, 1945.
These are the photos he brought back of his time in India in the CBI Theater of World War II,
proudly shared by his daughter, Glenda Garrelts Mattes.
